Description
The British flag wall art is made from solid pine, the red and blue parts of the British flag are coloured black and finished with clear varnish, the white parts are left natural scorched pine and finished with boiled linseed oil. A wooden moulding stained red is added to represent our fire brigade service.
The back has D rings and rope to hang wherever you want. Screws and wall plugs are supplied, these are for solid concrete or brick walls. For plasterboard walls, please use the appropriate fixings. It is recommended that you have the flag professionally installed.
As these flags are 5kg, a competent installer should be used.
As wood is a natural product, deviations in grains and knot placements are common, this makes every piece unique.

History
The national flag of the United Kingdom is the Union Flag, also known as the Union Jack.
The "thin red line" is a term that typically refers to the concept of the Fire service as the line which keeps society safe from fires. The "red" in "thin red line" refers to the red colour associated with the fire brigade.
The phrase originated as an allusion to the British infantry regiment The thin red line during the Crimean war in 1854, wherein the regiment of Scottish Highlanders -wearing red uniforms - famously held off a Russian cavalry charge.
